Favorite Passages
by A.J. Wilson

These are some of my personal favorite verses/passages.  What are yours?

“For God/ so loved/ the world,/ that he gave his only begotten Son/, that whosoever believeth in him/ should not perish , but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Its easy to divide this verse, share the gospel, and it is familiar to all.

“And the servant of the Lord must not strive ; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves ; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” 2 Timothy 2:24-26

One of my “goal verses.”  It guides me often when trying to teach something.

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please , and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11

Also the theme of the Gideon’s International, I try not to teach anything without a healthy dose of scripture included, because that will be blessed.

And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter : so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying , O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter ? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.” Jeremiah 18:4-6

Just like the clay, I have sinned, making me marred (or flawed) but God can still remake and use me.

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying , Whom shall I send , and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8

“Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying , 5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. 6 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak : for I am a child. 7 But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak .” Jeremiah 1:4-7

“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12

I love the call of these two Old Testament prophets and Timothy.  At one time I would be considered young, and these verses gave me confidence when trying to teach those older than me.
