Leaving the Elementary Principles

“And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able;” 1 Corinthians 3:1-2

“And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.” 2 Timothy 2:24-26

“Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,” Hebrews 6:1 (passage 5:11-6:8)

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;” 1 Peter 3:15

Beginning last Sunday we had some great revival services, and I know that many of you have been re-energized to “press on toward the goal” (Phil. 3:14.)   The singing, testifying, and preaching were all exciting, instructional, moving, and convicting; as the Bible should be when our hearts are aligned with God. 

If you were unable to attend, or did not experience a personal revival during this week; you can take comfort because revival is still available.  We were touched by the Holy Spirit because of our prayers and yearning for his teachings, not the planning of services with certain guests.  Revival services are planned by the church leaders, but personal revival is a result of personal thirsting for God.  Choose today to renew your commitment to him!

As we were charged by the preachers, we must not let the “revival” end with those services.  Continue to pray for every service we have together, that God will be present in a mighty way.  Continue your commitment to digesting his Word (not just reading, but absorbing its contents.)  Turn the Holy Spirit’s search light on your heart, and ask him what to remove in order to make room for more of God’s teachings.  How will you saturate yourself with his teachings?  Ask God to show you opportunities that are around you everyday to touch others with His love.  As you experience the flow of His love and power, think of ways that we can continue to minister together as a church.  The fuel that can keep our fires stoked will be in our prayers, and by creating disciples who are sold-out to learning more about Him.
