Samaritans P Story
by A.J. Wilson

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians 9:15

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,” Ephesians 2:8

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning”. James 1:17

This is a story of the group BarlowGirl, on a trip to Belize to distribute a few of the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. (as shared on the OCC website.)

There is one boy I have to tell you about and his name is Marcos. Now, Marcos stole my heart.

We were walking out of the last church on our trip and I saw a little boy about 11 pushing this huge bike. On the front was a massive bucket of corn, and the bike was too big for him to ride, so he had to push it.

I saw him walking along the street and I knew there was something special about this boy. My sister is a photographer so I had her take pictures of him and his amazing bike. He came over and my friend asked him if she could ride his massive bike with the vat of corn on the front. He of course let her and laughed the entire time.

Well, we had a shoe box gift left from the distributions that day, and so my sister Alyssa handed him that box and told him that it was a gift just for him. He got so excited, and when he opened that box, the look he had on his face is a look that will forever stay ingrained in my mind. The excitement and joy was beaming from his adorable little face. We spent about 15 minutes with him and then he had to go on his way.

And as he walked away, I couldn't hold back the tears. Here was a little boy who, at 11 years old, had to walk up and down the streets of Belize City and sell corn all day. But that day he crossed our paths and he got a gift that he loved, and I know he felt love that day. I could go on and on about how those two days have literally changed me.
